South pool now restocked and fishery back to normal with some very nice fish caught. The Highlight of the month was Otto Mathieson who holds the fishery record catching a14lb rainbow and returning seven. |

Due to stocking problems we had to cancel the two competitions due this month. Our supplier had great difficulty sourcing fish and i had to make the decision to close the south pool. The north pool fished very well with Bill Simpson of Portnockie landing a 5lb 3oz and returning eight |
This months fishing proved very interesting with the north pool producing nice catches on the dry fly.
The south pool however proved much harder where the more experienced anglers shone through with many landing fish between 4lb to 5lb.
Best catches this month on two fish tickets were, T Livingston of St Andrews with 6lb 8oz and a 5lb 5oz. And J Christie of Wick with 7lb and 5lb 4oz
September brings two competitions - the junior open on 04/o9/05 and senior open on 17/09/05, conditions seem to be coming right ,so hopefully we will have two good days fishing. |
During the warm few days at the beginning of the month, fishing proved to be very difficult with a few anglers not reaching their targets. However, as the water temp dropped, catches improved dramatically. Dries, Buzzers, Nymphs and even Lures proving successful. B Christie from Elgin and W Mackay from Wick both returned 8 fish in a two hour session!! |
Mixed weather continued throughout June, making fishing conditions very changeable. Nymphs and Dries proved to be the best, with Dennis Miller from Wick returning 4 fish in his two hour session.

The weather men tell us we have had the lowest temperature this month for twenty years, with night temperatures varying from zero to two degrees, this did not affect the fishing to much with some very good catches. For example Peter Clark from Crewe caught 25 fish in a four hour session!!!!
Highlights for May were Alan Porteous' excellent performance in the Troutmasters Final, also Billy Inkster and Eain Sutherland both catching tag fish, (£100 each). |
VERY WET CONDITIONS BUT ALSO SEEING SOME NICE CATCHES. K DALLAS OF ABERDEEN DOING BEST. THE TROUTMASTERS WAS HELD AND WON BY ALAN PORTEOUS OF THURSO, WHO WILL NOW REPRESENT US IN THE FINAL. |
WEATHER IMPROVING AND GOOD CATCHES WHEN CONDITIONS WERE RIGHT. PETER QUAIL OF HELMSDALE CATCHING 14 FISH IN A FOUR HOUR SESSION!!! |
WE HAVE HAD SEVERE FROSTS THIS MONTH LIMITING FISHING OPPORTUNITIES |
THIS WAS A MIXED MONTH WEATHER WISE MAKING FISHING DIFFICULT. THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH WAS J MUNRO OF LYBSTER CATCHING A £100 TAGGED FISH. |
