December 2008

Unfortunately freezing conditions severely restricted the fishing this month.
During the clear spells the fishing was very good with some fine catches.
D Plowman and G Doull both Wick landing six fish each with intermediate lines and lures doing best.

November 2008

November has seen a continuation of the poor weather with strong winds, rain, snow and the fishery frozen over for two days.
The fishing has been mixed on the few better days. Dry flies were doing well which is quite amazing so late in the year. Lures on intermediate line were doing best the rest of the time.
T Bracey from Watten caught seven fish in a two hour period and Geoff Henstridge from Wick caught five.

October 2008

Has been a disappointing month with very heavy rainfall and disagreeable winds.Despite the weather some nice catches were recorded with buzzers doing well.
Best catches of the month were Jeff Henstridge from Wick and Mark Shone from Kinbrace who returned twelve fish.

September 2008

We have experienced some lovely weather this month with long dry spells, making fishing enjoyable but difficult at times although very few experienced blanks.

Small black dries and yellow dancer lures seemed to get best results.

J. Grant and his friend from Orkney caught fifeteen fish in a day session.

August 2008

We have enjoyed some pleasant weather in August and once again escaped most of the rain. Fishing has been very good with emergers doing best.
J Sinclair from Elgin caught fifteen fish in four hours and R.W Gartshore had eight and nine fish on successive days.

July 2008

July started very well with some good catches on the dry fly. Towards the middle of the month conditions turned very warm, with anglers having problems with midge in the mild calm evenings.

In all July was a very busy month.

Ross Middleyard caught nine fish in a four hour session.

June 2008

June was a very disappointing month with cold winds making fishing difficult.

A Wick from Stirling caught eight fish in a two hour session.

May 2008

This Month could be the driest on record but the fishing has been very good with some nice catches, Buzzers and dries doing best.
Susan Lafferty of Thurso landed a tag fish worth £100.

M. Shone, Thurso landed seven in a two hour session and Ross Middleyard, Thurso caught fifteen in four hours.

April 2008

There was not much improvement in the weather until late in the month, when spring arrived at last, some nice catches were experienced with Will Menzies from Dunnet and John Blake from Thurso both catching seven fish in a two hour session, K Imlach Thurso and C Farquhar Wick both landed £100 tag fish.

March 2008

This month was very cold and wet with Easter weekend being very disappointing with snow showers and strong winds,despite this catches were good.

J Christie from Wick caught five fish in a two hour session.

February 2008

The last two weeks in February were very wet and windy, although the hardened anglers were having some nice catches with lures continuinuing to do well.

J Christie from Wick caught five fish in a two hour session and D plowman caught a tagged fish netting him £100.

January 2008

once again the fishing was affected by the weather, mid month we were frozen. despite the limited opportunities fishing turned out to be excellent.
J Bews, Orkney, landed 7 fish in a two hour session.
